Happy New Year!

I hope you had a lovely and restful holiday and I wish you all ease and joy in this coming year. If you need a little light I hope you know that there is one within you. A spark can be so subtle you can barely sense it but it carries with it potential and possibility. It can be so small a light that you feel you're in a dark cave but if you get still enough you can sense the pulse of life, the desire for something. That's enough. The sanskrit word spanda means the "pulsation" or "vibration" of consciousness. It is the pulse of life or energy that flows through us. Trauma or chronic stress may leave us feeling that we don't have access or connection to this energy but it exists within all of us. Even a freeze response or a shutdown collapse state has energy underneath it.

A new year, a new month, a new day, a new hour, a new minute, there is always the potential to begin again, breathe in, breath out. Beginning again is not to encourage some greater idealized version of ourselves but to become very present with our current selves with compassion and love. Let go of the shame, let go of the judgements, the relentless self critic and allow a space to grow, to feel alive.

Instead of asking yourself what needs to change maybe ask what makes you feel alive? What moves you? What evokes curiosity?
